Despite a valiant effort, there is no way I will reach my goal of completing 10K today. Having a competitive nature and failure has never been an acceptable option I have to share with the group the reason for the enchantment I found instead of dismay. For years or perhaps all my life the allure for writing a novel has always been present, but the motivation has been lacking. Today, I started on a novel that I didn't even know that I wanted to write until I sat down today at the keyboard. The story's plot is simply a man's attempt to take photographs of the Markhor goat. The goat ancestry of this endangered species predates the domestication of any animal by man. The setting is in the countries of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan where in some cases there has been only marginal evolution over their 50,000 years of existence. Perhaps longer than any other society. The intrigue of this venture coupled with the majestic settings and the uniqueness of a society that has long eluded the scrutiny of the western world may spark some interest. If not for others, I know that I can't wait to start writing the next page. The 10K program was a great motivator, sorry for the failure; but in the long run this may still be a success.
