Fear of Writing Online Course
our premiere course
Many creative writing courses teach you the practical craft of writing and educate you on how to navigate the publishing world. We do not profess to be experts in that field. Instead, this course provides a healing balm for fresh writing wounds and old scars or blocks—packaged with cheers and fun.
Our course is suited to writers and would-be writers from the following categories:
stalled writer / jaded writer / closet writer
If you haven’t written much in ages—or you’ve never really had the courage to start—we can definitely set you on (or back on) the path to calling yourself a writer.
Writers who feel burned out from doing it as a business (or from trying to please the publishing industry) also love our fun curriculum.
Graduate Course
GRADUATES OF THE Fear of Writing Online Course usually want to know what they can do to sustain or recapture the momentum they created during their eight weeks of joyous writing. The Grad Course is an easy and fun way to maintain the flow.
The course features 15 writing assignments: 5 short stories, 3 fun essays, 1 interview, 1 author bio, 1 article, 1 inner-exploration list and 3 book reviews.
The final section features four FoW outlets where you can get published, complete with tips and step-by-step guidance. This will give you experience working with an editor in a safe and friendly environment.
Characterosis
Put your neuroses into your characters
We writers tend to add autobiographical touches to our writing. In fiction, this may be subtle and not publicly admitted to. Much of it may be unconscious—and altered in ways that make it nearly unrecognizable, even to the authors themselves. But how can we help putting something of ourselves into our characters . . . even if it’s beliefs or compulsions we would never dream of living out ourselves?
Using autobiographical material deftly can be both therapeutic and fun. Let’s explore some of the techniques that can be used to blend reinterpreted fact with fiction, as well as the benefits and pitfalls of using real material disguised within your stories.
